западные фаны пытаются спасти сериал, но будьте бдительны - не попалитесь участвуя в этой акции (т.к. мы его скачиваем а не смотрим как полезные для поднятия рейтинга зрители в США): Hi there,
TVBytheNumbers left TSCC and Dollhouse fans a big stinking bag of doggy doo for our Valentine’s Day by giving us proof of what we feared most, that the move to Fridays could be a death sentence for the best sci-fi show on TV and for Joss’s newest foray into Science Fiction TV.
The ratings were the worst that we’ve seen for TSCC this season and frankly, it was to be expected.
Why? Not because of the “deathslot” move on Fridays for TSCC and Dollhouse. Frankly I was psyched to have our shows be give a new under utilized night during the week to air on, I was however, gravely disappointed by the lack of interest in FOX to promote that their critically acclaimed series was returning in a dignified way (excuse me as I try to burn that irrelevant GRINDHOUSE ad out of my memory.)
We got months and months of advertising that LIE TO ME was coming to FOX and yet they only started advertising DOLLHOUSE 2 weeks before it’s premiere and ONE week for TSCC. Yes, there are thousands of fans who check online and were aware that the show was returning on a new night, but what about those who don’t ever go online? The casual fans who DON’T watch any other FOX programming wouldn’t have any idea of the switch.
I and our forum Mod Ross (who wrote a fabulous essay on his blog) fully believe that the Nielsens are broken and are no longer accurate w/ their representative face of who is watching what on TV. The fact that GHOSTWHISPER can continually get high ratings on Fridays is evidence that the Nielsens are not reaching out to younger and different demographics who likely rabidly watch QUALITY Sci-Fi programming. It is apparent that they cater to older and blue collar TV viewers.
True Sci-Fi fans are sophisticated, we own DVRs and use them religiously (my sister owns 3 of them) and we go online to watch episodes if we missed them or our DVR screws up. The problem is that not every home in America owns a DVR, they make up less than 1/4th of the households in America…but the question remains exactly how many households belong in the Nielsens? I doubt that they’re much more than that. The Nielsen’s might be a joke, but unfortunately the networks still heavily rely on them for telling them how their shows are doing.
So at this point, for those of us Chroniclers who watched THE GOOD WOUND live and who did not get factored into it’s ratings, we need to let FOX know that we did watch it, we’re happy that TSCC is back and that we’ll be watching every Friday night LIVE. If you DVRed the show, watch it again on the weekend - DVR numbers factor in all viewings that come within the first THREE days after an episode airs, so each rewatching during those days counts as a ratings hit. The episode is also up on FOX ON DEMAND right now and should be up on HULU shortly - watch the show LEGALLY. Illegal viewings will only HURT our show’s chances of staying on the air.
What can you DO?
For now we need to let FOX know that we watched the episode, we want them to come in on Tuesday and be stunned by the numbers of emails sent in from fans of TSCC thanking them for bringing the show back, for allowing our fabulous writers to give us quality Sci-Fi programming. Send in your emails to askfox@fox.com . Need something to write?
Dear Kevin Reilly,
Thank you FOX, Warner Brothers, and TSCC’s amazing corporate sponsors so much for giving us a full 22 episode season of TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES. I watched this past Friday’s AMAZING mid-season premiere episode THE GOOD WOUND live and highly enjoyed it. I am not a member of the Nielsen’s and wanted to let you know that I watched the episode to make you aware that you have viewers who are NOT represented in the antiquated Nielsen ratings system. I look forward to next week’s episode DESERT CANTOS and this week I’ll remind all of my friends and family to watch TERMINATOR on it’s new day and time of Fridays at 8PM on Fox.
Thank you again for bringing us QUALITY Sci-Fi television.
Sincerely,
(Sign your name here)
Other things to include in your email:
* Did you DVR it?
* How many people watched TSCC live in your household? What were their ages and sexes?
* Do you plan on downloading the episode via Itunes?
* Do you re-watch the episodes online (Fox on Demand or Hulu?)
* Did you also watch and enjoy DOLLHOUSE?
For international viewers please let Kevin know that you’ve heard that this episode was amazing and that you can’t wait for it to air in your country. If TSCC is currently airing in your country - let them know that you’re watching it LIVE or if your country has the episodes available online that you’re watching it that way.
TSCC fans are some of the most sophisticated viewers who watch TV - don’t whine, don’t plead, be grateful and coherent. Use Spellcheck. And most of all - get everyone that you know who watched to also email Fox.
No Fate but What we make.
